Wrocลaw hosted the LAACT artists’ presentation and exhibition for the second time. For two days in the courtyard of the Four Domes Pavillion, international artists and curators presented their art installations whose medium is light.
Thanks to the cooperation between the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Wroclaw, the National Museum in Wroclaw – Museum of Contemporary Art Four Domes Pavillion and NOKS collective, the exhibition was accompanied by discussions and short lectures by artists and researchers of contemporary art. During the curatorial tours, the artists talked about their work.

On 10 and 11 March, the LAACT XXIII project took place, accompanying the exhibition ‘Otto Piene. Stars‘, which was on view in the courtyard of the Four Domes Pavillion. This was the first solo exhibition of Piene’s work in Poland and inspired the LAACT programme.
Otto Piene is one of the most important creators of light art and an undoubted pioneer in thinking about light as a medium of contemporary art. LAACT XXIII shows how contemporary artists tell stories about the world and current events using light.
During each day of LAACT XXIII, in addition to the exhibition in the courtyard, video works by Joacelio Batista from Belo Horizonte (BR) and Tomasz Wiktor from Paris (PL) were presented as large-format projections.
Taking place on the outside wall of the building, the projection was an activity of One Night Public Gallery, a one-night gallery presenting contemporary art in public space. The curators of LAACT XXIII thus referred to the founding act of the ZERO Group, the ‘one-night exhibitions’ that Otto Piene and Heinz Mack had organised since April 1957.
